Michael Dawson has claimed that Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk has got ‘everything’ to his game, as he told Sky Sports PL (19/02/22 at 2:55 pm).

The former Premier League defender added that Van Dijk can also defend ‘anywhere’ on the pitch.

After returning from his long-term injury at the start of the season, Van Dijk has needed time to get his mojo back in Liverpool colours.

The 30-year-old is now starting to look back to his best and is showcasing his old self at the right moment given what is coming Liverpool’s way.

Ex-Spurs man, Dawson, spoke highly about the Dutchman in Jurgen Klopp’s backline and why he is as good as he is.

“He’s a Rolls-Royce, isn’t he, Van Dijk,” said Dawson. “The best for me.

“I have been looking at the likes of Rio and John Terry growing up. But I think Virgil van Dijk has got everything.

“Honestly, he is big, strong and quick. We talk about defenders not wanting to get in wide areas. He can defend anywhere on the pitch on his own.

“That gives the opportunities, we see it with Trent and Robertson, they get the freedom to not worry about what is behind them.”

Many supporters saw both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson dip slightly last season without Van Dijk in the team.

But now that he is back, they are also back to their best and are searching for multiple trophies this term.

The Premier League title race is wide open again and they have a League Cup final to deal with against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Then there is the FA Cup, with Norwich City their opponents in the next round, whilst they should see off Inter Milan in the second-leg of their last-16 Champions League tie after winning 2-0 at the San Siro.
